In this training we look at Life Cycle Costing – how considering the future costs of owning a building can be managed and optimised in support of more sustainable and cost effective decision making.

The course covers key concepts in  Life Cycle Costing including:
Net Present Value, Discount rates as well as Green Public Procurement, and life cycle costing calculations.

Dr Dermot Kehily

Dermot is the lead author of the SCSI Life Cycle Costing Guidance Note, he has over 25 years’ experience in the Construction Industry, in both the United States and Ireland as a Quantity Surveyor, Construction Manager and in Project Controls, and as an academic in the School of Surveying and Construction Management in Technological University (TU) Dublin.
In 2007 he joined TU Dublin and is currently delivering modules on Quantity Surveying and Construction Management Programmes. Dermot has experience and has carried out extensive research in the areas of Digitisation in construction and Life Cycle Costing (LCC). Dermot completed a PhD in ‘Leveraging Building Information Modelling (BIM) for LCC’ in 2016 and collaborates with numerous BIM technology vendors, educating students and practitioners in digitisation and BIM.
