  • The Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage has recommended that a Whole Life Carbon assessment should be a requirement as part of the planning permission process.


  • Learn to understand where the hotspots are in the lifecycle of a building in order to address them. 
How is the course delivered?
The course includes pre-recorded videos and resources that you can explore in your own time – this explains the main concepts in Embodied Carbon, EU Levels and Whole Life Carbon Assessment. 

You can join on the live, expert-led Zoom session, where you can see our Carbon Calculator for Ireland and learn more about the the IGBC research on Embodied Carbon data as well we getting get your questions answered with our Carbon Lead.

Stephen is the Whole Life Carbon Lead in the IGBC.

He works on:

  • Level(s), the EU initiative to promote a common language around the environmental performance of buildings


  • WGBC #BuildingLife campaign set up to drive change in public policy and private sector awareness of Whole Life Carbon.


Stephen has an MSc. in Sustainability & Adaptation in the Built Environment and a background in data management, analysis and presentation.
