Why consider this training?

  • Learn about embodied carbon and life cycle assessment of the global warming potential associated with your building designs.
  • Life Cycle Assessment is due to become an EU regulatory requirement in the coming years under the  EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) 

  • The Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage has recommended that a Whole Life Carbon assessment should be a requirement as part of the planning permission process.


  • Learn to understand where the hotspots are in the lifecycle of a building in order to address them.

Stephen is the Whole Life Carbon Lead in the IGBC.

He works on:

  • Level(s), the EU initiative to promote a common language around the environmental performance of buildings


  • WGBC #BuildingLife campaign set up to drive change in public policy and private sector awareness of Whole Life Carbon.


Stephen has an MSc. in Sustainability & Adaptation in the Built Environment and a background in data management, analysis and presentation.
